Not getting anywhere with your phone interviews? I have the answer for you regarding all phone interviews!
Don't do phone interviews! Always push for an in-house, face-to-face interview, especially if it's a local opportunity. All of the companies in the world hire the candidate they like. How can you get this company to like you? In person and face-to-face, that’s how! I wish companies hired only on credentials, but they don’t. No one gets hired over the phone, so push for an in-house interview! See, phone interviews are to screen you OUT, not IN! That’s true. Most HR people do not want to set-up an in-house face-to-face meeting with the hiring manager if you’re not qualified, so they are listening for “knock-out” factors when they are speaking with you.
So, next time you find yourself on a phone call with a company, you need to push for an in-house, face-to-face interview. Here is an easy way to do this. During your phone call say something like this to your interviewer "This opportunity sounds interesting, when can we get together?" or "This opportunity sounds interesting, when can I see your operation?" The sooner you can get off the phone the better. Your goal, when you receive a phone call from a company, is to get an in-house face-to-face interview. You should never do phone interviews on local opportunities. Never! When you try this technique make sure you’re ready, so have your calendar available when you can meet at their office. I don't want the interview to say, "Ok, how about Tuesday at 4:30?" and you have no idea if that will work. Have your availabilities ready!
So, if your phone interviews haven't turned into in-house interviews, try this approach, it works believe me. We consult candidates at our offices all day to do this and it works! Give it a try. Again, how can you have the greatest success with your phone interviews? Don’t do them! I hope this helps.
Good luck to you!
