Limitations?

Most limitations regarding you and your career are self-imposed!

When I tell candidates that most of their limitations are self-imposed they never like it. Do you know why? Because it’s true! If you are a younger person just entering the job market this might seem a little crazy. It isn’t. I speak to candidates all day long, from all over the world, and it doesn’t matter. I will stand by my statement. Most limitations are self-imposed! Period.

If you are imposing limitations on yourself – stop it! If you’re not flexible enough to move to another part of your city, state, country or even outside of the country you are making a mistake. Do not put a fence around you! If you are not finding opportunities in your local market, look somewhere else! It seems so obvious, doesn’t it? But you would be surprised how many candidates will not look down the street for an opportunity let alone another city, state or country!

Have you been to the hospital lately? How about an engineering firms office? If you have you would have noticed the same thing I did. A lot of people from all over the globe! Why is it that in America we do not access our own opportunities? People come from all over the globe to access the opportunities in this country but I have recruited candidates in Indiana that won’t look at an opportunity in Illinois! I am not kidding.

We have a tremendous amount of opportunities in the USA and regardless of the current people in government this is still a great country with a tremendous amount of opportunities, if you are willing to go get it! And, when I say, “go get it” I mean it. Where ever it is.

The upper Midwest of the USA is almost at 100% employment. It’s one of the areas of the USA that is struggling to find employees. YOU! I know it’s cold up there but if you need to find work look in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana and Wyoming. These states need talent! YOU! And some of the companies within these states may even pay you to move there!

My point is, if you are out-of-work or not happy in your current career, stop putting limitations on yourself and making it harder for you. Don’t say you want to move up in your career or you would love to go back to work but you are not willing to relocate. Does that make sense? Quit lying to yourself! Most limitations regarding you and your career are self-imposed, so if you are doing this you need to stop it! I hope this helps.

Good luck to you!
