Do you know what will set you apart from your competition? Your attitude!
As a professional recruiter, the thing that will set you apart more than anything else is your attitude! It amazes me how many people I speak to on a daily basis that are negative about EVERYTHING! If you are doing this you need to re-evaluate what you are doing in your life and your career. Ask yourself, what are causing these negative thoughts in my life? And, how can I change it?
When you are interviewing, whether you are unemployed or not, your attitude will set you apart from your competition. Period. And that could be in a bad way or good. If your attitude is negative you will give off a “negative vibe” and no one wants to work or be around people like that. If your attitude is positive you will give off a “positive vibe” and everyone wants to work and be around people like that. Which one are you?
Notice I haven’t said your reputation, position, degree, family stature, or golf game, will set you apart. I said your ATTITUDE! That shouldn’t surprise anyone, so the question is, why are some of you so negative about EVERYTHING? If you don’t like what you are doing you should change in! Life’s too short to be miserable, isn’t it? The negative things in your life are going to bring you down and the positive things will lift you up!
Try to surround yourself with positive people. Successful people. In other words, be careful of the company you keep. Guard yourself about being negative about your life and your career. It’s just a waste of time. Do you know why? Because you have more control over your life and career then you will ever realize, so take control! You control your attitude.
That’s great news, isn’t it? As a professional recruiter I am telling you that the number one determining factor in the hiring process, whether you get that position, or not, is your attitude! And, you decide and control your attitude, right? So, it’s true, you cannot control what you look like or how you were raised but you can control the number one determining factor when a company is looking to promote you or hire you and that’s your ATTITUDE! Attitude truly is everything! I hope this helps.
Good luck to you!
