Contact Companies BEFORE Sending Your Resume

job search secrets

Do you want a successful job search? Then make contact with the companies first before sending your resume! Sending unsolicited resumes is a waste of time!

I would rather have you send three resumes to three companies, that you have made contact with and are expecting your resume, rather than you sending thirty resumes to thirty companies without any contact whatsoever. It’s not even a contest you will have greater success with the companies that are expecting your resume.

If you want to have success in your job search you must contact the company first before sending your resume. And, this is key, it doesn’t matter whether they are advertising positions or not. It doesn’t matter. Just because a company is advertising a position and you look like a perfect match for the position you still must contact the company before sending your resume.

Why is this important? I want your resume to be expected by the company, not unexpected. When you call the company you can tell your story. You will have an opportunity to show your personality and relate your qualifications to the position. You will be able to tell them what YOU can do for them. It gives you a chance to sell yourself to them so they will be looking forward to, and most importantly, expecting your resume.

When they get your resume, unlike the other resumes they are receiving, they will remember you. This will enhance your chances of getting an interview. You will have a specific name to send your resume to and you will be putting a voice to it. If, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work out now you will have a contact within the company. And that’s someone you can follow up with now and in the future.

If you want to have success in your job search and leave your competition behind, contact the companies firstbefore sending your resume. It’s not the quantity of the resumes you’re sending it’s the quality and the approach you use. In this case, less is more! I hope this helps.

Good luck to you!
