Best Career Advice? Ignore The Doubters!

Getting Career Advice

You shouldn’t surround yourself with doubters – they can be hazardous to YOUR CAREER!

It’s a shame but it’s true, there are some people in your circle of friends and family that will doubt you. They won’t believe in you. Why? It’s complicated. Petty jealousies? Maybe they don’t want you to succeed? Who knows? And, frankly, it doesn’t matter. The important thing for you is to stay focused on what YOU want to do in YOUR CAREER!

Let me give you some examples. Let’s say you’re in middle management and you say to one of your fellow “doubters” in the office, “I want to be a vice president at this firm” what do you think these doubters will think when you say that? They may say, “Oh, come on, you can’t do that” or “You don’t have the right educational background” or “People like us can’t be vice presidents” and there are many other examples of what these doubter types can say, but you get the idea. Not very supportive or encouraging, is it?

Now let’s say you tell this to the president of the company. What do you think the president will say? Do you think the president’s response will be different? Absolutely! They didn’t get in their position by being a doubter, or listening to doubters, did they? No. It’s impossible to succeed as a doubter. It just is.

Try to surround yourself with “winners” and people that are successful in their careers. Don’t hang around the doubters of the world. They don’t believe anything is possible. They believe everything is “rigged” and they tend to be very conspiratorial about everything! You have to stay true to your beliefs and what YOU want to do in YOUR CAREER! It’s hard enough out there, isn’t it? Then don’t make it harder on yourself by hanging around people that constantly doubt YOU! I hope this helps.

Good luck to you!
