The best thing you can do, even if it’s terribly difficult for you right now, is to stay positive. Stay engaged!
Whatever you do don’t disengage from life. This is an election year in the United States and it’s very distracting for everybody. Who knows what to believe or what will happen in the future. It is extremely difficult to follow. I think we all know and understand it’s not good.
So, what’s the answer? Staying as positive as you can. Staying focused. Staying engaged. We need everyone working together to pull us out of this horrible economy. If you’re having a difficult time finding work right now, what’s the alternative? You still have to provide for your family, right? Staying positive is the key.
If your job search is burning you out, take a break for a half-a-day or so. I’m not telling you to quit all together or take days off at a time, just an afternoon. Reflect on your future. What is it you can do? What else can you do in your career? Where else can you do it? Open your eyes to new ideas. Maybe you should look into additional areas of the Country? If you were employed right now, although not in your local market, would you be happier?
What about the immigrants? What about your ancestors? What about the pioneers that made the trips out west in the United States? What about the gold rush? The depression? Throughout history people have gravitated to areas where they can make a good living for their family. We haven’t had an economy like this in the United States in a very long time, but it isn’t anything new. It might be new to us, but it isn’t anything new to the world or the United States.
There are places within the United States that are at 100% employment. We have clients that can’t find candidates for their positions. So stay positive. If you have to relocate to find employment, just like many ancestors did before you – do it! It might turn out to be the best thing you ever did. Although it might seem bleak today, who knows what the future holds for you? Stay positive! I hope this helps.
Good luck to you!
