When you’re deciding on a new career think about your freedom. What is important to you? Never negotiate your freedom away, if you do, you will live to regret it!
There are many examples of trade offs you will be confronted with throughout your career. Trade offs on where you can live. Trade offs on the types of industries. Trade offs on the amount of traveling and commuting. Trade offs on the specific tasks you must perform and, as you can imagine, the list goes on and on.
Throughout your career you will be faced with decisions about what you’re possibly willing to trade to get what you want for a better career. Do you truly want happiness in your life and career? Then NEVER NEGOTIATE YOUR FREEDOM AWAY! Your freedom isn’t negotiable!
Your freedom is more important than money. Your freedom is more important than money. Your freedom is more important than money. Your freedom is more important than money. Am I getting my point across?
When you have more freedom to do what you want in your career the happier you will be and, ironically, the more money you will make. Why? Because you are happy and free! Being free and able to use your God given talents is key to your success.
When faced with new opportunities for your career NEVER NEGOTIATE YOUR FREEDOM AWAY! Never! Think of the trade offs when you’re faced with a new career decision. Don’t just jump at more money. Think about the duties and responsibilities of the position. Think about the location. Think about the hours. Think about the travel. Think about the daily commute. Think about what is important to you. Think about your freedom.
If you don’t like what you’re doing in your career the money won’t matter. Eventually all of the little things in your job will start to bother you. The travel, the commute, the industry, the hours, the location, or the people, and the list of things go on and on. If you didn’t consider your freedom, yea you’re making more money but now you hate your job. Why? Because you negotiated your freedom away!
When you are considering your next position think about what is important to you. Maybe the trade off will be money? Maybe you won’t make as much money but you can live where you want? Maybe you won’t make as much money but you will be doing what you want? Maybe you won’t make as much money but there is no travel or commute and you can make your own hours? You must consider what is important to you and put the money aside.
I want you to think about this possibility. Maybe you won’t initially get the money, but you will have the freedom to use your God given talents so you will be happier and because you’re happier you’re more successful and because you’re more successful you will eventually make more money. Interesting isn’t it? Do you want to be successful? Then remember, your freedom isn’t negotiable. I hope this helps.
